The son of Prithviraj Kapoor and the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor actor Shashi Kapoor died on Monday aged 79 after a long time illness. Shashi was born in Calcutta in 1938.
He acted in over 175 films. He was honored by the Padma Bhushan in 2011 and the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2015. In 1961 he debuted with the film Dharmputra.
Some of the masterpieces work in films such as Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, and Kabhie Kabhie. The Bollywood legend and his wife inaugurate the Prithvi theatre in November 1978 in Mumbai. In 1984 his wife Jennifer Kendal died of cancer.
Shashi Kapoor died on Monday and before that, he was admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri on Sunday night. In the last two decades, he had stayed away from the limelight. He does have three children – Kunal, Sanjana and Karan Kapoor.
